Nigeria’s female youth national team, the Falconets, captain Christianah Uzoma has disclosed that all players in the squad believe they will defeat China this Thursday in their second game at the ongoing FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
Sports247 reports that, despite their 2-0 loss to Spain in their first game of the competition, Uzoma said they are all very confident they will win on Thursday because they have put the opening-game loss behind them.

Although the Falconets could not score during their loss to La Rojita in their opening Group F fixture on Monday, Uzoma stressed that the Nigerian squad is still standing strong and united in one target to storm back better in order to get victory from their next game.
On Monday, Marisa Garcia opened scoring in the 13th minute following a goalmouth scramble in Nigeria’s box, after which Alba Cerrato doubled Spain’s lead 17 minutes from time, but Uzoma said that setback is now in the past.
As she sets her mind on Thursday’s second group game versus China, the soft-spoken goal tender disclosed that she is already charging up her colleagues and believes they will rise to the occasion.
While affirming that she wants to lead by example, Uzoma assured that all the players are staying positive about their chances in the competition and they will keep fighting to pick every point available.
The Edo Queens of Benin City shot-stopper concluded with a bold declaration that Coach Moses Aduku’s side will eke out victory on Thursday, adding that all the players are fired up to give a much better performance than they had in their opening group game on Monday.
Uzoma asserted, “We can’t give up. We will come back in the next game, and we believe we are going to win. As the captain, I will tell my teammates not to give up. We will keep fighting until the end.”
Sports247 reports further that Uzoma and her teammates will be desperate to get all three points when they face China on Thursday at Arena Sosnowiec in order to get back into the reckoning for qualification into the knockout rounds.
Three points on Thursday would also give them added confidence ahead of their battle with the group’s whipping squad, New Caledonia in their last game of the first round fixtures on Sunday.
