FootballTransfers runs through the latest Arsenal transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Kenan Yildiz, Viktor Gyokeres and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
Arsenal eye Yildiz deal
Arsenal are interested in signing Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz after missing out on Vinicius Junior and Morgan Rogers so far this summer.
The Independent have revealed that Arsenal are looking into a potential transfer for the Turkey forward, while TEAMtalk claim that Mikel Arteta’s side are ready to explore a swap deal involving Gabriel Martinelli and/or Gabriel Jesus, who were both omitted from the Gunners’ squad for their Community Shield win over Manchester City on Saturday.
It’s ascertained that if Juventus show “genuine interest” to sign Martinelli or Jesus, both of whom are admired by the Italian giants, then Arsenal will look to arrange a possible swap deal in a bid to bring Yildiz to the Emirates Stadium.
The Independent confirm that involving Martinelli in a transfer is a possibility, although talks over a deal are not yet advanced.
Gyokeres offers himself to Barcelona
Viktor Gyokeres has allegedly offered himself to Barcelona in the hopes of leaving Arsenal this summer, according to reports in Spain.
Arsenal are believed to be eyeing players such as Kenan Yildiz, Julian Alvarez or Victor Osimhen to upgrade their squad and, with Kai Havertz also often used ahead of Gyokeres, the Swedish forward could find himself on the bench regularly in the coming season.
Spanish outlet COPE report that Gyokeres’ agent is pushing to have a meeting with Barcelona sporting director Deco due to the player’s ‘desire’ to leave Arsenal this summer.
Barca had not considered Gyokeres as an option but the striker’s desire for a move could make the situation more ‘active’, with the La Liga side’s top targets proving unattainable.
Arteta rules out Lewis-Skelly sale
Mikel Arteta has ruled out the prospect of selling Myles Lewis-Skelly this summer despite the youngster being linked with a move away to Premier League rivals.
Reports emerged earlier this month that the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea had been offered the chance to sign the 19-year-old but no bids have manifested as of yet.
Lewis-Skelly is said to be keen to remain at Arsenal and continue pushing for a regular starting spot, having featured regularly in pre-season, and Arteta has confirmed he has no desire to see the teenager leave.
When asked how confident he was that Lewis-Skelly would remain at Arsenal beyond the transfer window, Arteta simply replied ‘100 percent’, ending all speculation.
Inter consider Martinelli signing
Inter have emerged as strong contenders to sign Gabriel Martinelli this summer after the door opened for the Brazilian’s departure from Arsenal.
Martinelli is in the final year of his contract with the Gunners and, although there is an option to extend for another 12 months, Arsenal are open to offers for the winger.
According to Corriere Dello Sport, Inter could look to make one final addition to their squad in the late stages of the transfer window, with Martinelli seen as a potential option.
Arsenal had been in talks to sell Martinelli to Galatasaray but the 25-year-old had no desire to make the move despite an offer of around €45m being submitted.
