The Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints have both been fined $500,000 by the NFL after a huge brawl and several other fights broke out at their joint practice.
The league has launched a new crackdown on fights at joint practice sessions this preseason, sending a memo to all teams prior to the start of training camp.
Despite being reminded of their responsibility to ‘prevent unsportsmanlike behavior at joint practices to reduce the potential for injury’, the Saints and Cowboys saw tensions boil over earlier this week. And they have now been hit hard by the NFL in the first instance of efforts being stepped up to curb their behavior.
