Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Sunday called for completing the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and implementing agreements reached, after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the Board of Peace’s plan for the territory.
Abdelatty made the remarks during a phone call with Nikolay Mladenov, the Board of Peace’s high representative for Gaza, according to a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry.
Netanyahu had rejected the board’s 15-point plan and insisted that Hamas be disarmed before any Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, while the group said it remained committed to implementing the plan.
Abdelatty and Mladenov discussed the latest developments in Gaza and efforts to complete the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan, the ministry said.

They also discussed implementing the “roadmap to complete the commitments under the Gaza peace plan”.
Abdelatty stressed the importance of fulfilling all agreed commitments, including ensuring full, safe and sustained access for humanitarian aid and completing the Israeli withdrawal from the territory.
He said this would pave the way for a transition to the second phase of the plan and support early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
He also stressed the importance of enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to carry out its temporary duties from inside the territory, and moving ahead with arrangements to deploy the International Stabilisation Force.
Abdelatty also stressed the need to preserve the unity of Palestinian territory, with the aim of enabling the Palestinian National Authority to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
