The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate’s Freedoms Committee documented 108 cases of crimes, attacks and violations against Palestinian journalists and media workers in July 2026. These included arrests, beatings, interrogations, detention and being prevented from covering events, as well as targeting journalists with stun grenades and tear gas, attacks by settlers, raids on homes and media offices, and the confiscation and destruction of equipment.
In a statement, the Freedoms Committee said it had documented 58 cases of detention and journalists being prevented from carrying out their reporting duties, making these the most frequently recorded violations during the month. Restrictions on journalists continued as they covered events on the ground.

The committee also recorded 11 attacks by settlers against journalists and media crews, including physical assaults, pushing, threats and preventing journalists from doing their jobs, particularly while covering events and attacks in various parts of the occupied West Bank.
It also documented 12 cases in which journalists were targeted with stun grenades and tear gas. In several cases, journalists suffered breathing difficulties while covering raids, attacks and events on the ground.
In terms of physical assaults, the Freedoms Committee documented six cases of beatings, in addition to four cases in which journalists sustained bleeding injuries while carrying out their duties and covering events in the Gaza Strip. Some of the injuries were caused by shrapnel from missiles and artillery shells.
