Arsenal have been given the latest on Vinicius Junior’s contract situation at Real Madrid amid ongoing speculation that the Brazil international could complete a sensational summer transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

Los Blancos are closing in on a potential replacement for Vini Jr at the Bernabeu, with Jose Mourinho’s side nearing an agreement for Yan Diomande that will send the Ivory Coast international to the Spanish capital in a deal worth an estimated €130-140m from RB Leipzig.

The Brazilian arrived at training on Wednesday with his agent in tow, and the expectation is that the future of the 26-year-old will be decided in the days ahead.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports:

“These are going to be important hours for Real Madrid, not only because of outgoing transfers but also because of Vinicius Junior’s contract.

“Vinicius Junior’s agents, who also represent Yan Diomande, arrived in Madrid yesterday. They are there to welcome Yan Diomande in the coming days, but also to continue negotiations over Vinicius’ new contract.

“There will be another important round of talks between the player, his representatives and Real Madrid.

“The previous two or three meetings did not produce an agreement because both sides made counter-proposals and there are still details to resolve.

“Another meeting will take place in the coming hours and it will be important in determining Vinicius Junior’s future.

“Remember, he has only one year remaining on his contract. Real Madrid do not want this situation to continue into 2027 and reach April or May without knowing whether he will renew.

“The discussions will continue and then we will have a clearer picture of what happens next.”

Arsenal in an increasingly strong position

Real Madrid’s negotiating position with regards Vini Jr is set to be strengthened by the arrival of Yan Diomande, who is widely considered to be the brightest young winger in the world following a stellar spell with Leipzig.

Only now is there a widespread insistence that the deal is on the cusp of being completed, with numerous complications, including a legal dispute between agents.

Los Blancos are ready to make Diomande their club-record signing, which will in turn have a knock-on effect on Vini Jr.

This is largely positive news for Arsenal. Vini has grown tired of being in the shadow of Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid, both in terms of importance on the field and with regards his salary.

While the indications are that both Vini and Los Blancos want to continue together, this source of friction could be sufficient to prompt a move.

FootballTransfers has exclusively revealed that Arsenal are willing to go all-in to sign Vinicius Junior, but first they must get the green light from the player. That could arrive should his negotiations with Real Madrid falter again.
