Conflicting Vinicius reports

Arsenal remain intent on signing Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr, but there are currently conflicting reports on the state of play.

Reports in Spain have claimed that the player has rejected the opportunity to sign a new contract with Los Blancos, which is a boost to Arsenal. AS also reports that the Gunners’ players have been informed by sporting director Andrea Berta that the Brazilian is likely to join.

Sky Sports, on the other hand, understands that Vinicius is still expected to stay at Real Madrid following his talks with Real Madrid’s hierarchy on Wednesday. The impending arrival of Yan Diomande will, however, put the spotlight firmly on Vini’s future.

Konsa bid coming

Arsenal are set to make a new bid for Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, as per the Daily Mail.

One approach for the England international has already been rejected because it fell short of Aston Villa’s valuation of around €70 million. Ideally, the Birmingham club would like to keep hold of Konsa.

However, Arsenal are now preparing a fresh push for the centre-back as they seek to cover William Saliba’s injury absence. They are expected to make a second bid for Konsa shortly.

Alvarez advantage

Arsenal hold an advantage in the race to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, TEAMtalk claims.

The Argentine has his heart set on a move to Barcelona, and the reigning LaLiga champions are now set to make a strong new push for his signing, but there is no guarantee of success at this stage. Atleti are unwavering in their stance that they will not sell to their domestic rivals.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are still keeping a close eye on the situation. Thanks to Andrea Berta’s connections at Atleti – he is their former sporting director – the Gunners believe there could be an opportunity to swoop for Alvarez.

Guimaraes cost revealed

Arsenal are set to pay around €87m for Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, The Athletic reports.

The outlet reported on Tuesday that a breakthrough in negotiations was imminent and that an agreement was firmly expected, with the player waiting for permission to travel for his medical.

It has now been revealed that both Arsenal and Newcastle budged from their initial stances in order to reach a compromise on Guimaraes’ fee. The Gunners were initially reluctant to pay more than €70m, while Newcastle wanted north of €90m.
