Nigerian professional wrestler Isaac Odugbesan (Oba Femi) is sure to get his name mentioned for many years to come as the man who sent American icon Brock Lesnar into retirement at the age of 49, following his victory over the maverick fighter last weekend at SummerSlam 2026.

Sports247 reports that Lesnar, who initially appeared to quit after Oba Femi first defeated him at WrestleMania 42, has eventually thrown in the towel and declared publicly that he is thinking of other things outside wrestling, in the aftermath of Saturday’s loss to ‘The Ruler.’
Incidentally, Lesnar showed signs of what was to come immediately after the bout at his hometown in Minnesota, as he lifted Oba Femi’s arm high in what analysts and fans adjudged to be a symbolic handover from ‘the old order’ to a new wavemaker in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).
It also marked the end of an epic trilogy, in which WWE egg heads appeared to beef up Oba Femi’s image as the successor to Lesnar, by arranging his victory in the first bout, after which the American returned from seeming retirement to defeat the Nigerian at ‘Clash In Italy,’ to lay ground for last weekend’s third bout.
The end, though, has now finally come for ‘The Beast,’ as Lesnar went on public television to make his decision known, and he joins the legends of WWE in retirement, while Oba Femi takes over as the man who sent the icon packing and now rules, according to what his nickname suggests.
A report by the UK’s Daily Mail noted, “WWE legend Brock Lesnar has called time on his 26-year career, following his defeat to Oba Femi at SummerSlam. Lesnar, a wrestling great and former MMA star, announced an appearance on ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.
“Following his Hell in a Cell loss to Femi at SummerSlam in Minneapolis, the 10-time WWE champion confirmed that the time has finally come for him to bow out. Lesnar, 49, has retired from wrestling and returned in the past.
“He appeared to suggest the end was coming after leaving his gloves and boots in the center of the ring after his WrestleMania 42 match against Femi earlier this year. Despite having enough left to compete again at SummerSlam, he insists that defeat in Minneapolis will go down as his last in the business.”
Sports247 reports further that Lesnar did not harbour any malice or misgivings after his loss to Oba Femi, as reports before the fight even indicated he had been teaching the Nigerian grappler tricks of the trade and how to make his impact felt in the roped square.
“I’m here to let the world know that I am retired and I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody. Saturday was a very emotional day for me,” said Lesnar, who began life with the WWE back in 2002, after a college career that earned him two NJCAA All-Stars awards and a 106-5 record over four years.
