Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan has poured cold water on reports suggesting that an agreement has been reached to sign Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah on a Bosman deal this summer.

The Egypt forward is currently a free agent following his decision to leave Anfield at the end of June, and a host of clubs across world football are understood to be monitoring his situation, with multiple teams in Saudi Arabia and the USA keen to finalise a deal.

A move to Turkey is believed to be Salah’s most likely next step, with Besiktas currently in talks with the 34-year-old, having already submitted an initial contract offer.

However, a deal has not yet been finalised and reports have suggested that Trabzonspor are keen to hijack Besiktas’ proposed move for Salah as they look to secure significant reinforcements ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Trabzonspor have signed 11 new players on permanent deals so far this summer, in addition to agreeing a second loan deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, but club president Dogan has denied rumours that a deal has been agreed with Salah.

“There is no such agreement,” Dogan told Turkish outlet A Spor (via ESPN) when asked about Trabzonspor’s interest in Salah.

“As for plans to bring him to Trabzon, there is no such plan; there is nothing to it. If there were such a plan, information would be provided from our side, the press would be informed, and so on. There is no such thing.”

Dogan added: “Salah is a very professional, highly successful player known worldwide. He is one of the players with the best careers out there. Of course, who wouldn’t want Salah? That is a separate matter.

“But as of now, there is no such agreement involving our club. I am emphasizing this, though perhaps I am not getting the message across clearly: there is no such agreement.”

When asked if he has spoken to Salah about a possible move, he replied: “I don’t want to talk about this. Of course, the fans want to see a player like Salah, and so do I.

“Bringing in certain players requires a certain stance and a certain way of behaving. That’s what I’m trying to do as president right now. I know people’s focus is on this; there’s no agreement, no planned trip. We will inform our community and our fans as soon as there is a development.”
