The president of Nigerian third-tier league club, FC Ebedie of Sagamu, Barrister Churchill Oliseh has acknowleged that he has enjoyed a rare privilege in being a strong partner with FC Midtjylland of Denmark for ‘nearly 25 years,’ during which time he has churned out numerous talents for the Danish club.
Sports247 reports that the lawyer-tuned-players’ manager, who attended Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife and is fondly called ‘Barry,’ made this disclosure while speaking as special guest of the top-flight club at their MCH Arena home ground in Herning, Denmark.
The former goalkeeper of defunct Ilesha Breweries Limited (IBL) FC and erstwhile first choice for Nigeria at the World University Games, was welcomed, along with his wife and sons – Fredrick, Gabriel and Stefan – with an exciting introduction before the club’s UEFA Europa League qualiffier against Beşiktaş of Turkey.
They received a standing ovation as the stadium announcer highlighted his contributions during the 25-year-partnership, within which FC Ebedei has supplied Midtjylland with several emerging talents, many of who have gone on to excel with the club and become Nigerian national team stars.
“This is a very emotional evening for my family and FC Ebedei. We truly appreciate the honour and recognition from FC Midtjylland. It’s been an honour to be their strategic partner for nearly 25 years, developing Nigeria’s best football talents.
“I am proud of everything we’ve achieved together, including winning their first-ever Superliga with our cooperation and graduates,” said former Super Eagles’ captain and head coach, Sunday Oliseh’s older brother, who is in Denmark with his team on a three-month training tour.
