The president of Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod has given credit to the body’s grassroots development programmes for the country’s success at this year’s African Nations U18 Boys Championship in Alexandria, Egypt.

Sports247 reports that Nimrod was quite excited with the team’s success and described it as a validation of the NVBF’s commitment to developmental efforts and implementation of various grassroots programmes over the last nine years.
The NVBF’s boss also hailed his executive board members and stakeholders of the game for their unwavering support, which he said were very vital in helping the team become African champions, after defeating hosts Egypt 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-14) in the final on Wednesday.
The victory also secured Nigeria’s qualification for the 2027 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U19 World Championship, which Nimrod cited as another huge achievement for the current board and further assured that the federation will not relent in boosting the growth of volleyball in the country.
Nimrod expressed optimism that the under-18 team’s success should inspire greater achievements for Nigerian volleyball internationally, then pointed out that attention will quickly shift to preparations for this year’s African Nations Championship for men and women.
“This victory is a reflection of the hard work put into our grassroots development programmes. It also provides a platform for these young players to secure opportunities with clubs in North Africa and even outside the continent,” Nimrod added.
