NBA star Tari Eason has filed for a domestic violence restraining order against his ex-girlfriend after claiming she destroyed $92,000 worth of his clothing and threatened to kill him.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the Houston Rockets forward filed the petition after alleging that his former partner, 32-year-old influencer Marilyn Maritza Melo Rodriguez, physically assaulted him following a dispute.
The 25-year-old also described an alleged phone call with one of Rodriguez’s friends who, according to Eason, warned that she would ‘break both my legs’ and ‘kill me.’
In the legal documents, Eason claims that Rodriguez’s mother on one occasion called him up and asked him to drive the influencer to her family home.
However, after arriving at the property, he alleges that a discussion turned violent and Rodriguez struck him in the face with a closed fist.
He then alleges that, after leaving her, Rodriguez made her way to his AirBnB and poured liquid bleach over an assortment of his clothes, ‘ruining them’ in the process.

Eason claims that the total value of the destroyed clothes was, roughly, $92,000.
The Rockets power forward is asking a judge to order Rodriguez to stay away from him, his home, personal vehicle, workplace and any arena in California where the Rockets are scheduled to play.
Early on Friday morning, Rodriguez’s representatives told TMZ that she ‘disputes those portrayals and contends they are false, misleading and intended to damage her reputation while diverting attention from her allegations of harassment.’
The Daily Mail has reached out to Rodriguez’s representatives for comment.
Eason was originally selected by the Rockets with the 17th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of LSU, where he earned First-Team All-SEC honors and was named the conference’s Sixth Man of the Year.
The 6-foot-8 forward quickly established himself as a core defensive pillar and high-energy spark plug in Houston, earning an NBA All-Rookie Second Team selection during his debut season after playing in all 82 games.
Eason recently solidified his long-term future in Houston after agreeing to a five-year, $81.5 million contract extension with the Rockets.
