‘It’s a Gamechanger’ — Amaju Pinnick Backs FIFA’s $20bn Football Investment Plan

Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick has endorsed FIFA’s proposed $20 billion FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), describing the ambitious initiative as a landmark opportunity to accelerate football development across the globe.

The proposed FIFA Forward Enterprise is designed as a commercial subsidiary that would generate additional revenue streams for world football, with proceeds expected to strengthen FIFA’s investment in its member associations through the FIFA Forward Programme.

Speaking on the proposal, Pinnick said the initiative has the potential to significantly improve football infrastructure and development, particularly in emerging football nations.

“This is a major opportunity for football around the world. Every member association stands to benefit, and that should be welcomed because it creates more resources for the development of the game,” Pinnick said.

The former FIFA Council member noted that each national association could gain access to as much as $20 million, in addition to existing support under FIFA’s Forward Programme, provided the funds are managed responsibly.

“The real issue isn’t the creation of the enterprise itself. What matters is transparency, accountability and ensuring that the funds are used for the development of football rather than anything else,” he added.

Pinnick argued that the proposal reflects the continued commercial growth of the global game, pointing to the financial success of recent FIFA competitions as evidence that football has entered a new era of revenue generation.

He believes those additional revenues should be reinvested into grassroots programmes, infrastructure, youth development and capacity building across FIFA’s 211 member associations.

The former NFF president maintained that if implemented with strong governance and proper oversight, the FIFA Forward Enterprise could become one of the most significant financial initiatives in the history of world football, creating lasting benefits for national federations and the future growth of the sport.
