Belgian Super Cup: Club Brugge Confirm Onyedika Out With Illness

Raphael Onyedika has been left out of Club Brugge’s Belgian Super Cup clash against Union St.Gilloise due to illness.

Club Brugge announced the 22-man squad on their official website, confirming Onyedika’s absence as a result of ill health.

The 25-year-old, whose contract has just one year remaining, has been strongly linked with a move away from the Belgian Pro League champions this summer.

The Nigeria international is reportedly close to joining Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt after agreeing personal terms with the German club.

Frankfurt are now said to be in advanced talks with Club Brugge over a deal worth around €10 million for the defensive midfielder.

Onyedika played a pivotal role in Club Brugge’s Belgian Pro League title triumph last season, securing his second league crown since joining the club.

He has also lifted the Belgian Cup and the Belgian Super Cup once each during his time with Blauw-Zwart.
