Glasgow 2026: Idi Amin’s Grandson Questions Officials’ Decision After Being Disqualified For Headbutting Opponent

Aziz Abdul, the boxer grandson of former Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, has expressed dissatisfaction after being disqualified at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, while Australian boxer Lekeisha Pergoliti advanced after a contentious win.

Recall that Aziz Abdul (nicknamed Ringo) faced England’s Damar Thomas in a super-heavyweight quarter-final. He was disqualified in the third round for headbutting after receiving two previous warnings for fouls and point deductions.

Reacting after the game, Abdul launched an emotional, expletive-laden post-match rant, claiming the referee’s decision was unfair, accusing officials of bias, and stating that as a “Black African,” he felt penalized because his opponent was fighting on home ground.

‘All I can say about this is the referee’s decision is not right and I am not happy,’ said Abdul. ‘This n***** next time, I will get him. Anytime in the future. Two years, five years, 10 years. I will show him that Aziz Ringo is a real warrior.

‘When you watch the previous fights of England, their boxers create a lot of fouls and they play a lot of bull****. They cannot judge them wrong. I took a light punch and they counted. I landed a heavy punch on him and they deduct my points and warn me.

‘Of course it’s unfair. I’m a black African, I know. It’s God’s plan. I don’t know why the officials are scared about this fight. Why can’t they let this fight continue.’

‘How can I headbutt someone?’ he said. ‘I would not headbutt someone. He is the real person they wanted to win. He was the winner before. I knew if I could not get a knockout then I would not win the fight because he’s at home. It’s an away match for me here. All I say is it’s God’s plan and I wish him good luck for his next fight.’
