Don’t Sign Barcola –Carragher Warns Liverpool

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has warned the Reds against signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, questioning his massive valuation and suitability as a direct replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Carragher noted that the staggering valuations, surpassing €150m to €170m (£145m+), shift the pressure from mere potential to an immediate expectation of being a world-class performer.

He pointed out that Barcola predominantly operates on the left flank, meaning Liverpool would still require a specialized right-winger even if a deal went through.

He stressed that splashing record fees on individual talent must be weighed against overall squad balance and holistic team needs.

‘No he plays on the opposite flank!’ Carragher wrote.

‘LFC currently have three players who could play from the left in Rio/Gakpo/Wirtz & no one who plays from the right.’

Carragher stressed that Liverpool need to ‘desperately’ sign a right winger ahead of the season, with Salah’s departure having created a need for a high class option in the position.

‘Well Rio has always played from the left so that’s obviously his best position, Gakpo should move really but who knows, I’m interested to see where Wirtz plays, if he’s 10 Dom plays CM,’ Carragher added.

‘I’m not sure about that.

‘Need a right winger desperately!’
