The quarter-final lineup for the U-15 Boys’ Singles event at the 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Championships in Accra, Ghana, has been confirmed, with Nigeria’s Joshua Samson and Umar Ayoola now just one victory away from securing podium finishes.
Sports247 reports that Joshua Samson, who produced a stunning 3-2 comeback victory over Egypt’s Eyad Hussein in the Round of 16, will take on Uganda’s Joseph Sebatindira.
The Ugandan earned his place in the last eight after battling back to defeat Ghana’s Israel Aklie in another thrilling five-set encounter.
Nigeria’s second quarter-finalist, Umar Ayoola, faces a stern challenge against Egypt’s Ahmed Elsabbagh. Ayoola reached this stage after edging Ghana’s Frederick Mensah 3-2, while Elsabbagh advanced with a convincing 3-1 victory over Togo’s Tony Agbetoglo.
Elsewhere, Tunisia’s Amori Amne, who knocked out Nigeria’s Joseph Marvellous in the Round of 16, will face Egypt’s Muhammad Kosba for a place in the semi-finals.
The final quarter-final pits Benin’s AbdouRahaman G., who eliminated Nigeria’s Joseph Victor in straight sets, against another Egyptian contender, Sameh Asser, setting up another intriguing contest.
With two players still in contention, Nigeria remains firmly in the hunt for the U-15 Boys’ Singles title.
Victory for either Joshua Samson or Umar Ayoola would guarantee a medal and further underline Nigeria’s growing strength at the continental youth championship.
As the tournament enters its decisive stage, all eyes will be on the Nigerian duo as they aim to overcome formidable opponents and keep the country’s title aspirations alive in Accra.
