Nigeria’s para-sports athletes have received a charge from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for them to win more medals in their various events at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, where they started on Friday with three gold and three silver medals, Sports247 reports.

The charge for more medals was delivered by the president’s senior special assistant on people living with disabilities, Honourable Mohammed Abba Isa, who disclosed that the nation’s number one citizen also extended his goodwill and best wishes to the Nigerian para-athletes at Glasgow 2026.
While expressing confidence that the para-athletes will once again make the country proud through outstanding performances in their various categories, Isa added that President Tinubu believes the contingent has enough talent, passion, determination and inspiration needed to pick many medals at the Games.
Isa then personally urged the athletes to remain focused, compete with deep levels of discipline and demonstrate the fighting spirit that has earned Nigeria global recognition, as they are among the country’s greatest success stories at all major international sports competitions.
He added, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sends his warm wishes to all para-athletes representing Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games. He believes in their abilities and is confident they will once again make the nation proud, just as they have consistently done over the years.
“Our para-athletes have produced some of the highest number of medals in Nigeria’s sporting history. They have become symbols of determination and excellence. We are confident that this Commonwealth Games will not be different, and we expect them to once again fly the Nigerian flag high.”
