One of the most eagerly anticipated fixtures on the UK and Irish horse racing calendar takes place on Saturday, as a star-studded field of thoroughbreds goes head-to-head in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Ascot.
According to Sky Bet, Calandagan heads the betting as the 7/4 favourite. The five-year-old arrives in excellent form after landing the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud earlier this month.
If you’re expecting the gelding to not only win but do so convincingly, enhanced odds of 3/1 are available for Calandagan to triumph by one length or more.
Calandagan is 3/1 to win theΒ King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes by 1+ length
However, if you’re backing an upset, Masquerade Ball and Benvenuto Cellini are next in the market at 7/2 and 9/2 respectively.
Masquerade Ball has been in excellent form since February last year, recording two wins, three runner-up finishes and a third-place finish across his last six starts.
Benvenuto Cellini has also impressed, winning two of his last three outings to cement his place among the leading contenders.
