Hamas has condemned Israeli air strikes carried out across the Gaza Strip on Monday, saying they form part of what it described as Israel’s ongoing “genocide” against Palestinians.
In a press statement received by Quds Press, the group said the strikes targeted tents sheltering displaced people and civilian homes in different parts of the enclave, killing seven Palestinians and injuring several others. It described the attacks as a “systematic assault” and a flagrant violation of international law and humanitarian norms.
Hamas said the attacks would only strengthen the Palestinian people’s determination to remain on their land, defend their rights, and uphold what it called their right to life, freedom and dignity. It added that the strikes would not succeed in breaking their resolve or deterring them from confronting what it described as “Judaisation, settlement and expansionist plans”.
The group called on the mediators and guarantor states of the ceasefire agreement, as well as the United Nations, to take immediate action to halt the Israeli attacks and compel Israel to end its military operations and what it described as policies of “killing, starvation and siege” imposed on the people of Gaza.
The statement comes as the Israeli military continues its operations across the Gaza Strip, with civilian casualties continuing to be reported and the humanitarian situation worsening throughout the enclave.
