A man has died after a deadly two-vehicle crash on the iconic Harbour Bridge in Sydney.
The collision took place at about 12.40pm local time on Saturday, July 18, as emergency services were called to the Bradfield Highway, Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Officers from New South Wales [NSW] Police attended and were told two vehicles had collided.
NSW Ambulance paramedics and police performed CPR on a driver – a man aged in his 70s – before he was stabilised and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition. There were no other injuries reported.
Police have now confirmed, however, that the man has died in hospital – he is yet to be formally identified. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has now commenced. A report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.
A spokesperson for New South Wales Police said: “As inquiries continue police are urging anyone with information about the incident – or was in the area at the time with any relevant dashcam/mobile phone footage – to contact Sydney City Police Area Command or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
Images from the scene show multiple emergency vehicles surrounding the crashed cars on the bridge – the crash has affected northbound traffic, with long queues forming on the bridge, according to 7News.
