Pep Guardiola has been chalked up as the favourite to replace Thomas Tuchel as England manager, following the Three Lions’ World Cup exit at the hands of great rivals Argentina last night.
60 years of hurt will tick on at least another four years after England went crashing out of the tournament with boss Tuchel under scrutiny for his tactics and game management.
England looked comfortable at 1-0 up, before crumbling in the final 10 minutes – with many laying the blame firmly at Tuchel’s door, having made a succession of defensively minded substitutions.
And as the nation wakes up from its slumber from the night before, it’s former Man City boss Pep Guardiola who’s been installed as the 11/4 favourite to take the Three Lions top job according to eSPORTY BET.

Guardiola is the most decorated manager in the modern era, having won it all with both Barcelona and Manchester City in an illustrious 18-year managerial career.
He also enjoyed success with Bayern Munich – where he changed the face of German football with his tactical approach.
But crucially for England’s top brass, he’s now out of work having left the Etihad Stadium at the end of the last season, having won both the FA Cup and League Cup in the his final swanswong.
Thomas Tuchel may still have a stay of execution though. The German boss signed a two-year contract extension until the end of Euro 2028.
In the aftermath of the Argentina defeat, the 48-year-old vowed: “I have a contract until the home Euros, and I’m looking forward to that, even now [when] it is difficult to look that far ahead.”
That throws a spanner in the works but wouldn’t immediately rule out a change this summer as the FA look towards a home Euros two years from now.

Eddie Howe is next in line in the betting. The Newcastle gaffer has performed wonders on Tyneside in recent years. But it could be time for a change for the Englishman – with many touting him for the England job before Tuchel was appointed.
Lee Carsley had a stint in charge of England’s senior side, post Gareth Southgate. But the feeling is the U21’s boss is happy where he is and his skillset is best placed in the development of young players rather than at a sharp end of international football.
Carlo Ancelotti is the other stand out name on the list. The current Brazil boss could be lured by the FA, having taken some stick in for failing to get past the round of 16. But the Italian’s credentials are perhaps the best of the lot.
