Arsenal are set to make a formal offer for Morgan Rogers after the Aston Villa star returns from the 2026 World Cup next week.
Rogers played all 90 minutes as England suffered a devastating loss to Argentina in the semi-finals on Tuesday, leaving Thomas Tuchel’s side with a third-place match against France on Saturday before the players leave for an extended holiday.
FootballTransfers revealed that Arsenal have identified Rogers as their top target for the summer, even after agreeing a deal with Club Brugge for winger Christos Tzolis, and they could step up their chase now that the 23 year-old is open to discussing his future.
Talks have already been held between Arsenal and Rogers representatives, with FootballTransfers being told that personal terms are already close to being struck.
A player-side agreement is described as ‘advanced’ by Fabrizio Romano, who also confirmed that Rogers was a target even with the signing of Tzolis.
Aston Villa do not want to lose their star man but they could reluctantly agree his exit due to financial reasons if they receive an offer of around €150 million.

Rogers made six appearances for England during the World Cup and Mikel Arteta is keen to add the winger as an improvement to his title-winning squad, with Tzolis arriving as a replacement for the now-departed Leandro Trossard.
Aston Villa are aware that Rogers is keen on a move to Arsenal and they could be willing to lower their €150m asking price to facilitate an exit for a player who shunned interest last summer to extend his contract with the club.
Arsenal will likely pursue a deal for Rogers before considering a fresh approach for Bruno Guimaraes after Newcastle insisted they would not sell their captain for less than €100m.
Julian Alvarez is also believed to still be high on Arsenal’s shortlist despite the Atletico Madrid star holding out for a move to Barcelona, knowing that the La Liga giants would rather sell to a team outside of Spain.
