The Italian has been joined by a long-time colleague this summer at Tottenham Hotspur to add to the contingent from his country
The Italian connection at Tottenham has grown with Roberto De Zerbi bringing in a trusted face from his past to help for the season ahead.
When De Zerbi joined Spurs at the end of March and got to work early the next month, many expected the Italian to bring along the large contingent of staff he normally works with. However, the 47-year-old instead only brought a couple of familiar faces with him and relied on a group of the staff already in place.
At that point, he had only brought Marcattilio Marcattilii and Marcello Quinto with him to north London as first team fitness coach and senior professional development phase coach, respectively.
“It’s totally different this situation because we have no time to work like in Brighton or Marseille or in other places I’ve been and I don’t want to put confusion inside of the players. They have to be with a clear plan of the game and not too much instruction, not too much thinking,” De Zerbi told football.london when asked why he had only brought the duo with him.
A couple of weeks later, the head coach was able to add another one of his trusted staff members at Tottenham after Enrico Venturelli was handed a work permit. The 45-year-old joined in a role that, at that point, was purely as a translator with no coaching responsibilities, despite having such qualifications.

Now a fourth member of De Zerbi’s familiar crew has begun work at Hotspur Way, putting the players through their pre-season paces, as Agostino Tibaudi has become part of Spurs’ sports science and fitness staff. The 60-year-old joined De Zerbi’s backroom personnel at Sassuolo in 2018 and has been an ever-present by his side since.
He previously worked at AC Milan, Sampdoria and Cagliari and spent a season at Chelsea at the beginning of the 2000s. He also has a masterβs degree in Science and Technology of Physical Activity.
Tibaudi adds to the growing Italian contingent at Tottenham, which also includes new Β£100million signing Sandro Tonali as well as Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario.
football.london understands that Tibaudi is currently expected to be the only additional returning face from De Zerbi’s past.
The rest of the Italian’s coaching staff that helped De Zerbi keep Tottenham in the Premier League included Bruno Saltor and Andreas Georgson as assistant coaches, individual development coach Cameron Campbell and goalkeeping coach Fabian Otte, supported by first team transition coaches Stuart Lewis and Dean Brill.
