Kai Trump gives update on mom Vanessa's cancer battle as she attends glitzy ESPY Awards in New York

Kai Trump has shared a positive update on her mother Vanessa’s battle with breast cancer, revealing she is ‘doing better’ following a recent surgery.

Speaking at the 2026 ESPY Awards in New York, the 19-year-old golf standout briefly discussed her mother’s health conditions in a red carpet interview with Page Six.

‘My mom’s doing good,’ Kai told the outlet on Wednesday night at the Lincoln Center. ‘She’s doing better’.

Vanessa, 48, went public with her breast cancer diagnosis back in May before, last month, confirming that she had undergone surgery and was preparing for the second stage of her medical treatment.

Throughout her health battle, Vanessa has been heavily supported by her boyfriend, golf legend Tiger Woods, whom she started dating in 2025.

Recently, an insider revealed that the 15-time major champion had been ‘staying focused’ on supporting Vanessa throughout her recovery.

The 50-year-old ‘has been amazing during Vanessa’s recent diagnosis,’ a source told People Magazine. Woods has turned his full attention toward her battle after his own recent medical and legal issues.

‘Vanessa’s needs and issues have taken Tiger’s thoughts outside of his own legal, medical and personal struggles, which has been good for him,’ the insider told the outlet.

‘He has given her a lot of love — even while away working on himself. It shows he has character.’

A source in Florida also told People the couple ‘are optimistic about her treatments.’

‘Like anyone diagnosed with this disease, she is anxious but also strong and eager to move beyond,’ the source added. ‘She is loved and receiving a great deal of support … With all of the advanced treatments and excellent healthcare facilities around her, Vanessa will continue to receive top-notch care.’

During her red carpet appearance, Kai also opened up about the invaluable golf advice she receives from both Woods and her grandfather, President Donald Trump.

According to the recent high school graduate, Woods keeps it simple, telling her to ‘Be yourself, trust the process.’

Meanwhile, her grandfather offered a more seasoned perspective on the sport: ‘Enjoy every moment of it. It’s going to be rocky, but enjoy every moment of it.’

Kai will undoubtedly take that advice to heart this fall when she heads to Florida to attend the University of Miami and compete on the women’s collegiate golf team.

Former model Vanessa shares Kai and her four younger siblings – Donald, 17, Tristan, 14, Spencer, 13, and Chloe, 11 – with her ex-husband, Donald Trump Jr.
