LeBron James’ future has seemingly been decided after Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told fans that the team have agreed a deal to sign the veteran star.
The NBA world was sent into a frenzy last month after basketball legend James informed the Los Angeles Lakers of his plans to move on from the franchise.
The announcement put rival teams in the league on red alert as they weighed up a potential move for the four-time NBA Championship winner.
Recently, reports claimed that James’ former teams, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat were leading the charge to sign the former Lakers star.
However, in a bombshell update on Wednesday, Warriors head coach Kerr claimed that Golden State have snuck in and won the race to sign James.
In a viral exchange, a fan said to Kerr: ‘Hey, we need LeBron man’. Kerr, who was driving past the fans, said: ‘Oh, we got him. Put that on Twitter’.

There has been no official confirmation over James’ next move but Kerr’s comments, nonetheless, sent social media into a frenzy on Wednesday night.
However, some fans were left skeptical over the interaction and suggested that Kerr was ‘trolling’ the supporters with the bombshell announcement.
James announced on June 30 that he would be departing the team in free agency in order to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
It sets up a record-extending 24th NBA season for ‘King James’ as he winds down his career in the sport.
James’ decision to leave Los Angeles was confirmed by Lakers governor Jeanie Buss, who wrote: ‘LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes in history.
‘We will always be thankful for his eight years with the Lakers – including the title he led us to in 2020 under the toughest imaginable circumstances and the countless records he broke in purple and gold.
‘We wish him all the best in the future, both on the court and off. He will always be a cherished part of the Lakers family.’
Hours later, James responded with a tweet of his own, saying, ‘No, THANK YOU! Truly a honor to wear the [purple and gold] while trying to continuing [sic] the greatness & legacies that came before me! Hope I made a few proud during my stint.’

While there is plenty of speculation as to where he may go, fans noted that LeBron’s decision came only after his son Bronny’s $2.3 million contract with the Lakers became fully guaranteed.
Had the Lakers released Bronny prior to the deadline, they would have been on the hook for only $1.3 million of his 2025-26 salary, but will instead pay the full amount.
Despite the Lakers’ decision to keep Bronny’s fully guaranteed deal, LeBron announced his departure shortly after – leaving fans laughing at the team’s expense.
‘Bro waited until his son got a guaranteed contract. W Dad!’ wrote one user on X.
Another said, ‘Daddy’s final move was waiting until Bronny’s contract got guaranteed before telling the Lakers he’s out.’
