The Israeli military announced on Wednesday that one of its soldiers has been sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of sending videos to an individual Israeli authorities identified as an Iranian agent.
According to the Israeli military, the soldier transmitted two videos in June 2025, during the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, showing missile interceptions. The military said the soldier received payment for one of the videos.
The statement added that the soldier also sent additional videos filmed in civilian areas, including footage of a missile strike that, according to the military, had been obtained from online sources.
The military said the soldier later informed an officer in his unit that he had been in contact with a foreign agent after becoming concerned about the situation. He was subsequently arrested by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
According to the statement, the initial contact occurred through the soldierโs Telegram account, where he had received offers for photography-related work, including one allegedly made on behalf of an Iranian agent.
The military prosecution had requested a seven-year prison sentence, while the soldierโs identity was not disclosed.
In its ruling, the military court said it took into account that the soldier had not disclosed classified military information or information obtained through his official duties, and that he had voluntarily ended contact with the alleged foreign agent and reported the matter to his commanders.
