The defending champions advanced to the final four following a dramatic extra-time victory at the Kansas City Stadium in Missouri.

Mac Allister opened the scoring in the 9th minute, assisted by Lionel Messi. The Swiss equalized in the 66th minute through a goal by Dan Ndoye.

The pivotal moment of the match arrived shortly after, when Swiss forward Breel Embolo was sent off with a red card for simulation following a contentious VAR decision.

Mac Allister came close to heading in a late winner in normal time but could not hit the target after good work from Nico González before Messi worked the ball onto his right foot and bent an attempt narrowly wide, with extra-time needed.
