Former Rutgers University football captain Jamil Merrell has died at the age of 36, according to his twin brother.
His sibling, Jamal – who also played football at Rutgers – revealed his twin’s final words and admitted his family is dealing with ‘one of the hardest moments we’ll ever have to face.’
‘Before this moment, he looked at us with peace and said, “It’s time for me to level up, and everything down here for me is complete,”‘ Jamal wrote in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
‘Those words will stay with me for the rest of my life,’ Jamal added.
No cause of death has been revealed by the Merrell family.
