A man who made a 13-year-old girl take part in violent sex fetishes and encouraged her to prostitute herself has reportedly been sentenced to 22 years in jail and 24 strokes of the cane. The 27-year-old man was sentenced on Monday, July 6, at the High Court of Singapore. Court documents show that Foong Yong faced 20 charges in total for offences of a sexual nature against the teenage girl.
In one incident, Foong Yong took the victim to a staircase landing where he raped her and burned the girl’s buttocks with a lit cigarette butt twice, saying that he would treat her as his “ashtray”. The victim was left with burn marks on her skin, according to the court documents.
Prosecutors told the High Court that between May 2023 and July 2023, Young engaged in several penetrative sex acts with the victim on seven occasions, The Straits Times reports. The prosecutors said he was a sexual predator who used an underage victim to satisfy his violent and lustful fetishes and exploited her naivety for financial gain.
Yong pleaded guilty to six charges of statutory rape, and another 14 charges for various sexual offences were considered during sentencing.
The court heard that Yong befriended the victim on an online video conferencing platform on May 19, 2023. He asked the victim if she would be interested in having sex with him despite being aware of her age, to which she agreed. At his house, he handcuffed her and used a sex toy on her, repeatedly slapped the girl before raping her.
The next day, he raped her on the staircase landing and then choked the victim, causing her to become light-headed and be unable to stand properly. They then returned to his house, where they engaged in further sex acts.
As reported by The Straits Times, that same day Yong asked the victim to lend him around $200 to $300, and suggested that she have sex with other men in exchange for money and told her she “would be losing out” if she did not.
Yong gave her a list that said how much she should charge others for sexual acts after the girl agreed to help him by providing sexual services. He publicised the victim’s Telegram username and her offer of sexual services on two online platforms. Yong reportedly received a total of about $3,000 from her earnings.
He stopped publicising her details some time before June 5, 2023, though he continued to meet the girl for sex. Between June 1 and June 5, 2023, he also threatened to leak her pictures and videos of her online if she did not give him $5,000, the court heard.
