BBC will NOT cover World Cup quarter-final in USA as part of cost-saving drive

The BBC will not have boots on the ground in the United States for this week’s World Cup quarter-finals.

It comes as the BBC continue to stand by their controversial work-from-home World Cup, broadcasting their studio coverage from their Salford base until the semi-finals.

The Beeb have maintained throughout the tournament that their plans are flexible and ensured their team would be out in the United States for the business end of the tournament.

However, confirming their plans today, they have decided to remain at home until the semi-finals – spending less than a week in the States – as part of Director of Sport Alex Kay-Jelski’s cost-saving drive.
