The United Arab Emirates has announced an emergency humanitarian response worth $30 million to support civilians affected by the worsening situation in the Sudanese city of El Obeid, in North Kordofan State, under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to the official WAM news agency, the aid will be delivered through the UAE Aid Agency as part of the country’s long-standing humanitarian approach and its continued commitment to supporting the Sudanese people.
The response comes after a sharp deterioration in the humanitarian situation in El Obeid and surrounding areas, where civilians and displaced people face growing needs for food, healthcare, clean drinking water and shelter.
The UAE stressed the need for urgent and coordinated humanitarian action to ensure life-saving assistance reaches those most in need, particularly the most vulnerable groups.
It also renewed its call for the protection of civilians in El Obeid and across Sudan to remain an immediate priority for the international community. The UAE urged all parties to the conflict to comply with international humanitarian law, avoid escalating violence in populated areas, and allow humanitarian aid to reach those in need quickly, safely and without obstruction.
