AC Milan’s new era under Ruben Amorim is underway but their new head coach has come with a stark warning.
Amorim was appointed as AC Milan’s new boss last month, signing a three-year contract.
The Portuguese jetted into Linate Airport in Milan on Monday and was a picture of delight as he prepares to begin work at the Italian giants.
And while speaking to reporters, he made a comparison of the task in hand to his ill-fated spell at Manchester United.
Amorim was sacked as Red Devils head coach in January – just 14 months after taking the reins there.
During his time at Old Trafford, the 41-year-old bemoaned of the ‘storm coming’. And while excited to begin his new job in Italy, he’s warned San Siro supporters to expect some tough times ahead too.

The 41-year-old was sacked as United head coach in January after an ill-fated 14 months there
‘I’m really very happy to be here, it’s an honour to be the coach of Milan,’ he’s quoted by Calciomercato as saying.
‘Why did I choose Milan? If you read an old interview of mine you will understand it, for me a special club.
‘It’s a very big challenge that I accepted even if after the last one [at Manchester United] I told myself to accept a smaller one.
‘Perhaps it is a greater challenge than the last. I’m proud to be here, we all are, me and my staff.’
Amorim replaced Massimiliano Allegri who was sacked at the end of the season after Milan failed to secure a top-four spot and qualify for the Champions League in 2026-27.
AC finished 17 points behind bitter rivals Inter Milan who won Serie A, but despite that gap – Amorim insists he is here to bring success back to the Rossoneri.
‘I’m at Milan to win, if you’re Milan coach you have to have this mentality,’ he added.
‘I’m not naive, I know there’s a lot of work to do, but if you’re the Milan coach you have to play to win.’
