Nigerian basketball stakeholders and the country’s general sporting fratenity went into a frenzy of excitement on Friday evening, following their national team, D’Tigers’ second victory at the FIBA World Cup qualification competition in Luanda, Angola.
Sports247 reports that, less than 24 hours after silencing Nigeria’s eternal boogey team, Tunisia, 84-81 in their opening game on Thursday, the team coached by American basketball guru, David Fizdale romped to victory over Guinea.

Although the Guineans led with a marging of six points at the end of the third quarter, the Nigerian lads stormed back on all cylinders to give their Francophone West African opponents a first defeat in each phase of the qualifiers.
D’Tigers held their nerves to pull off a dramatic and very tight 80-79 win that observers noted was a huge upset against the Group C leaders, while also boosting Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2027 Basketball World Cup.

Nigeria ended Guinea’s winning streak, securing an important 2nd victory at the FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Luanda. Guinea led by 6pts after the 3rd quarter, but D’Tigers clawed their way back to win by 1pt. Onto the next one.”
Sports247 reports further that D’Tigers will end their qualification campaign against Rwanda on Sunday at Pavilhão Multiusos de Luanda, with high expectations of another victory that would put them firmly on the route to next year’s FIBA Men’s Senior World Cup.
