Manchester City have finalised an agreement to sign Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga, according to football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.
The England U19 international had looked destined to join Arsenal this summer, with the Gunners in advanced talks over a deal, but negotiations stalled and Mikel Arteta’s side opted to withdraw from contention.
This allowed Man City to pounce, and the eight-time Premier League champions have now agreed to sign the 16-year-old on a permanent deal for a fee of €11.7 million (£10m), as per Romano.
The transfer expert posted on X: “Jeremy Monga to Manchester City, here we go! Deal in place with Leicester City and player side.
“Fee worth £10m package as Man City got deal done after long talks with Arsenal but no breakthrough. [Enzo] Maresca, involved in process to sign Monga by presenting long term project.”
Monga made 37 first-team appearances for Leicester, having been handed his senior debut as a 15-year-old, and he will leave the club as one of their best ever academy graduates.
He will become Man City’s third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Mathys Detourbet from Troyes and Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest, with the club keen to back Maresca in the transfer market following his appointment as Pep Guardiola’s replacement.

Arsenal miss out on Jeremy Monga signing
It was previously understood that Monga was eager to join Arsenal this summer, following Leicester relegation from the Championship, and personal terms reportedly weren’t an issue.
However, the Gunners’ opening bid of €5.8m (£5m) was rejected by Leicester and they were ultimately unwilling to match the Foxes’ asking price, which resulted in a breakdown in talks.
Man City, on the other hand, were happy to spend a sizable fee on the teenager and he is likely to link up with the club’s U21 side next season or be sent out on loan to a club in the English Football League.
With Monga now set to complete a move to Man City, Arsenal are expected to turn their full attention to finalising a deal for Aston Villa superstar Morgan Rogers, who is their top target for the summer window.
