Emergency crews are still working at the scene of the fatal crash in in the town of Kvasyliv in Ukraine’s north-western Rivne region
Four people have been killed after a train hit a minibus in the north west of Ukraine today.
Several other people were injured in the crash which took place in the town of Kvasyliv in Ukraine’s north-western Rivne region.
Emergency crews are still said to be working at the scene after the horror smash, which took place at around 1.55pm local time (11.55 UK time) today in the town.
An initial report from police said three people had been killed in the crash, with the injured receiving medical assistance for their wounds.
However, this was later updated, with cops saying that the death toll had risen to four. The circumstances behind the crash are being established, ukrinform.net reported.
In a statement on social media at around 12.30pm UK time the Rivne Region Police said: “A traffic accident involving a train and a shuttle bus occurred today, July 2, around 13:55 in the village of Kvasiliv.
“Police and all emergency services are working at the scene.
“Three dead are known at the moment. In addition, there are injured people who are being given the necessary medical care.
“The circumstances of the tragedy are setting in.Further information will be announced later.”
In a later update the force said: “According to preliminary data, the death toll from the collision of a train with a minibus has increased to four.”
