Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has taken on a new role at Kano Pillars after being named the club’s Sports Ambassador following a major restructuring approved by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The development comes after Musa stepped down from his position as General Manager of the four-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions, ending a brief spell in the administrative role.

“Ahmed Musa will continue to play a key role in the future of Kano Pillars as the club’s Sports Ambassador,” the state government announced.
The appointment forms part of a wider overhaul of the club’s leadership aimed at restoring Kano Pillars to the summit of Nigerian football.
While Ahmad Musbahu has been appointed Chairman of the club’s management board, Musa will now focus on representing the club, promoting its image and supporting its long-term development.
The newly constituted board also includes respected football stakeholders such as veteran administrator Abba Galadima and former Kano Pillars Fans Club chairman Bashir Idris.
Governor Yusuf said the restructuring is part of his administration’s commitment to strengthening sports governance, improving talent development and restoring Kano’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading sporting states.
The government expressed confidence that Musa’s influence, leadership and vast experience at both club and international levels will be invaluable as Kano Pillars embarks on a new era.
A former CAF Champions League campaigner with Kano Pillars and Nigeria’s all-time leading FIFA World Cup goalscorer, Musa remains one of the most influential figures in Nigerian football and is expected to use his new ambassadorial role to help inspire the next generation of players while supporting the club’s growth on and off the pitch.
