The United States could become a World Cup mainstay.
With the 2026 World Cup widely praised by international fans — especially in viral social media posts — initial plans are already underway for the USA to host another World Cup in just 12 years.

The 2030 tournament will feature co-hosts Spain, Portugal and Morocco, while Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will also host matches.
The 2034 World Cup has been awarded to Saudi Arabia.
The 2038 edition, which could expand to 64 teams, doesn’t have a host yet and that’s where the USA could come into play — again.
“There’s no better country that’s positioned to host a World Cup than the United States, and I think we’re seeing that on social media,” said Andrew Giuliani, executive director of the White House’s Task Force for the World Cup, via the BBC.
“I think we’re seeing that with all the fans that may be interacting with the US for the first time, or the first time in a long time, that the US truly is extremely welcoming, that we have such an incredible infrastructure.
“We have the stadiums built, so for the US, compared to other host nations, where it costs tens and tens of billions of dollars, you know, it cost us a couple of billion.”
Canada and Mexico have co-hosted the 2026 World Cup, which has featured packed stadiums in three countries despite months of controversy about high ticket prices and travel issues.
But the USA is the primary host, with 78 of the 104 matches being played in the United States, and the July 19 final set for New York New Jersey Stadium — the normal home of the NFL’s New York Giants and Jets.
US President Donald Trump’s close relationship with FIFA President Gianni Infantino could also work in the USA’s favor, if the country pushes to host another World Cup in barely a decade’s time.
The USA first hosted a World Cup in 1994, which led to the creation of Major League Soccer.

“When you think that this World Cup may at some point expand out to 64 teams, I think the United States can handle it,” said Giuliani, who has already spoken to US President Trump about America hosting another World Cup.
“Let me make sure we get through this World Cup on 19 July before we make our pitch for 2038 or other ones.”
USMNT will play a Round of 32 knockout match vs Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday at San Francisco Bay Area Stadium.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino became frustrated with reporters on Thursday following a 3-2 defeat to Turkiye, who had already been eliminated from the tournament.
“I need to remember you and everyone that we won the group,” Pochettino said.
“Sorry, guys. We won.”
England currently tops Group L, but a 0-0 draw vs Ghana raised concerns for a Thomas Tuchel team that entered the biggest sports tournament in history with trophy hopes.

France, Mexico, Spain, Switzerland, Brazil and Netherlands have exceled in group play, while fans across the globe have praised an expanded World Cup that has replaced early concerns with buzzing enthusiasm through two weeks of action.
With soccer continuing to grow across the USA and Pochettino’s USMNT dominating the sports conversation in America, it only makes sense for the 2026 World Cup’s primary host country to already be considering hosting another historic tournament.
US President Trump is already planning to attend the 2026 final and present the trophy to the world’s winning team.
“It’s so wonderful to see the world’s love affair with the United States of America over our 250th birthday. It’s been very gratifying,” Giuliani said.
