The Trump administration has formally notified Congress of its intention to sell more than $700 million worth of jet engines to Turkey, Reuters reported, citing two sources.
The proposed sale comes despite objections from some US lawmakers over Turkey’s continued possession of Russian defence systems acquired in 2019.
Reuters reported the move is seen as an important gesture toward Ankara ahead of next month’s Nato summit and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
