Lucas Bergvall faces an uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur and has been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a potential blow to their hopes of keeping Lucas Bergvall at the club beyond this summer’s transfer window. The Sweden international’s future has been the subject of speculation over the last few weeks, particularly with Spurs looking to strengthen their squad.
Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke have been signed by Tottenham to strengthen their defence, while goalkeeper Martin Dubravka has arrived on a free transfer.
When it comes to midfield, Bergvall has been linked with a move away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and now there has been a fresh update about the 20-year-old’s future.
According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest could go on to pursue a deal for Bergvall this summer once they complete the sale of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City.
The report claims that Forest and City have agreed a £116million deal that will see the England international swap the City Ground for the Etihad Stadium this summer.
It has been stated that Forest could go on to use the money raised from Anderson’s move to Man City to make an attempt to sign Bergvall from Tottenham.
Forest are reported to have identified Bergvall as the ideal player they want to replace the 23-year-old, although it remains unclear what fee the East Midlands club would offer to try and prise the Sweden international from Spurs.
Bergvall is currently with the Sweden squad for this summer’s World Cup and most recently featured as a substitute in his country’s 1-1 draw with Japan on Thursday night.

The update on Bergvall’s future follows a report last week, which claims that the midfielder had expressed a desire to leave Tottenham this summer.
