Arsenal ‘hold all the cards’ in Tzolis deal

Tzolis recently emerged as a concrete summer target for the Gunners and, while the links with Arsenal have gone somewhat quiet in recent days, Greek journalist Dimitris Manakos revealed that the Gunners remain the clear favourites to sign Tzolis.
“My information is that Club Brugge are willing to listen to offers if the right opportunity presents itself. Club Brugge are aiming for a record sum, and with several top clubs following him, the market seems ready for that,” Manakos told Voetbalprimeur.
“I think Arsenal stand a better chance than many people in Belgium currently realise. This isn’t just a club that comes to take a look every now and then,” he added. “Arsenal have been following Tzolis for a long time and have enormous appreciation for what he has shown over the past twelve months.
“Club Brugge know that this summer could be the right moment for a top transfer, and for Tzolis himself, the chance to sign with one of the biggest clubs in Europe would obviously be particularly attractive.
“Important steps still need to be taken, but if Arsenal really push through, I believe they hold all the cards to finalise this transfer.”
Guimaraes offer rejected
Arsenal have seen a verbal offer for Bruno Guimaraes rejected by Newcastle United as they ramp up their bid to sign the Brazil international this summer.
Arsenal’s interest in Guimaraes was first reported by The Daily Mail and after Fabrizio Romano revealed that an approach worth just shy of €64 million (£55m) had been lodged by the Gunners, this has been backed up by transfer expert David Ornstein.
The Athletic reporter has confirmed that a verbal offer worth less than €70m has been submitted by Arsenal, but this was quickly rebuffed by Newcastle, who have no intention of allowing the Brazil superstar to leave the club this summer.
The Brazil midfielder has just two years remaining on his current contract at St James’ Park and while he is yet to express any desire to leave the club, Arsenal are hopeful of bringing him to the Emirates Stadium before the end of the summer transfer window.
Tonali deal explored
Along with Guimaraes, Arsenal have reportedly held ‘exploratory talks’ over a deal for another Newcastle midfielder in Sandro Tonali.
Tonali has been tipped to join Tottenham after they made a £75m (€87m) approach for the 25-year-old but the bid was rejected by Newcastle, with Spurs yet to improve their offer.
Arsenal could now be in with a chance to sign Tonali, with the BBC confirming that, like Guimaraes, talks were held over a potential deal for Italian, although a decision hasn’t been made over whether to pursue a move.
Tonali is thought to be keen on a move to Tottenham but some reports have suggested that he would prefer to join Arsenal if they made an approach.
Jesus told to take salary cut for Serie A move
Gabriel Jesus would have to take a significant salary cut if he is to join Juventus or Milan this summer, according to a fresh report.
Arsenal are believed to be willing to listen to offers for Jesus as he enters the final year of his contract and tentative interest has grown from a number of sides, including some from Italy.
According to Calciomercato, a deal of €20m would be feasible for both Milan and Juventus to agree to, however Jesus’ salary – claimed to be around €20m per year, is ‘out of line’ for Italian football.
It is suggested that Jesus would need to accept a salary closer to €5-6m if he wants to move to Italy this summer, otherwise a free transfer next year is considered more feasible.
