Nearly 7/1 on USA and Australia victories as Group D reaches crunch time

Group D has been one of the most entertaining groups at this year’s World Cup. Hosts USA have already secured top spot after an impressive start to the tournament, opening with a commanding 4-1 victory over Paraguay before following it up with a comfortable 2-0 win against Australia.

Australia currently occupy second place thanks to their surprise victory over Turkiye in their opening match, while Paraguay sit third after recording a 1-0 win over the same opponents.

At the foot of the table are Turkiye, who once again have failed to live up to the “dark horse” tag often bestowed upon them by fans and pundits ahead of major tournaments.

Group D concludes in the early hours of Friday morning (BST), with the USA taking on Turkiye in Los Angeles while Australia and Paraguay face off in Santa Clara.

Nearly 7/1 on USA & Australia victories as Group D reaches crunch time early tomorrow (BST)

With qualification positions still to be finalised, there is plenty left to play for despite the Americans having already wrapped up first place.

For those backing the USA and Australia to come out on top in their respective matches, combining the two selections returns nearly 7/1.

The Americans head into their clash with Turkiye as odds-on favourites, while Australia are priced at 16/5 to overcome Paraguay, according to Sky Bet.

Elsewhere, a USA and Paraguay double is available at 3.95/1, while those expecting both underdogs to spring surprises can get 14.54/1 on victories for Turkiye and Australia.

Finally, a Turkiye and Paraguay double is priced at just shy of 9/1.

With qualification places, final group standings and potential knockout match-ups all hanging in the balance, Group D looks set for a dramatic conclusion.
