Israeli Channel 14 has reported that the Israeli military is preparing for the possibility of renewed fighting on the Yemen front, amid what it described as the reactivation and updating of operational plans targeting the Houthi group.
The channel said the move follows statements by Israeli Défense Minister Israel Katz, who issued direct threats to the Houthi leadership, asserting that “the account with the group remains open” and that it would pay a heavy price for its attacks against Israel and its interests in the region.
According to the report, military plans have been updated in preparation for any political decision to launch new operations against the group in Yemen. It added that the Israeli security establishment is working to enhance its military response system to address threats originating from the south.
The report also quoted Katz as warning that Houthi leaders could be directly targeted, indicating that any operational opportunity to assassinate senior commanders could be exploited if suitable conditions arise.
The developments come amid ongoing tensions in the Red Sea. The Houthis have previously announced missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and key maritime routes, and have vowed to continue escalating their operations as long as the aggression on Gaza, Iran and Lebanon continues.
