The immediate past captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong has tipped either Senegal or Morocco to face France in the final of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Sports247 reports that, tthough Ekong gave France an edge to lift the trophy once again, he opined that Senegal or Morocco can give the two-time champions a run for their money.
While also citing Cote d’Ivoire as another team after his heart, despite their 2-1 loss to Germany on Saturday, Ekong reckoned that most of the African squads have performed well so far in this competition.
He also rated the standard of this year’s Mundial higher than any other edition before it, hence his accolades for the huge results recorded by most of the African teams, apart from Tunisia.
Ekong, who is working as a match analyst for SuperSport during the competition being co-hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico, added that he is happy with the ability of African teams to adapt to changing standards in the game.
“African teams have brought in that extra zest that we didn’t see from other teams. We’ve seen them prove themselves and the teams have shown that they can adapt to each game.
“They’ve shown that they deserve to be there and they are not pushovers, which makes the tournament tougher and more interesting … but my favourite country for the Cup is France.
“However, I believe there’s going to be one African team up against them. For that position, I think it’s going to be either Morocco or Senegal … depending on how the group stages go,” Ekong projected.
