Arsenal goalkeeper Lucas Nygaard looks set to leave the club this summer. Interest in the 19-year-old has increased after his loan with Braband IF.
According to Tipsbladet’s international football correspondent, Farzam Abolhosseini, has reported that Swedish side Halmstads BK have made contact with The Gunners about securing a move for the Dane.
Nygaard joined Arsenal on a free in the summer of 2024. He has made 24 appearances in the Premier League 2 for the Gunners at the under-21 level and also played in the UEFA Youth League on three occasions.

However, the loan to Braband IF was Nygaard’s first experience of senior football in his adult career, during which he made 12 appearances.
With Arsenal having David Raya and Kepa Arrizabalaga as the number one and two goalkeepers at the club, the likelihood of Nygaard making it into the senior squad in North London has been slim. The third choice, for now, is Tommy Setford, who has made some appearances for the Gunners at the senior level too.
There are some suggestions that Kepa could yet depart with a £5million release clause understood to be included in his deal. The Spaniard suffered a frustrating League Cup final performance, and a mistake proved costly.
Nygaard seems blocked by the likes of Setford and also 17-year-old Jack Porter, who has also been handed a debut by Mikel Arteta during his tenure. Therefore, the potential for an exit this summer appears a formality with the Swedish club Halmstads the likeliest candidate as things stand.
