Victor Munoz has reportedly chosen Liverpool after the Premier League giants agreed a £34.5 million deal with Osasuna and beat off competition from Real Madrid, Manchester United and Newcastle United for his signature.
Munoz, 22, underwent his Liverpool medical on Wednesday and will now pen a six-year deal to become the first signing of the Andoni Iraola era.
In addition to edging out Newcastle United to sign Munoz, a Spain international, Liverpool Echo reported that the Reds repelled interest from a number of other teams, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Bayer Leverkusen.

Barcelona were also interested in Munoz before they signed England international Anthony Gordon, and Real Madrid’s matching rights clause in their deal with Osasuna swiftly disqualified the La Liga giants.
Iraola Keen On Signing Munoz
Munoz’s release clause with Osasuna has been activated by Liverpool, of which 50% is owed to Real Madrid, who sold the player last summer. According to reports, Iraola, the new head coach, was a major factor in acquiring the 22-year-old.
After early discussions between Iraola and Liverpool’s recruitment team, the 20-time champions intensified their long-standing interest in Munoz with the Reds manager said to be eager to look into a possible transfer since he admires the former Real Madrid teenager.
Munoz is currently with Spain for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 22-year-old scored seven goals and provided five assists in 36 games to help Osasuna escape relegation on the final day of the 2025/26 La Liga season.
Liverpool will pay the sum in two installments.

The versatile Munoz will provide depth to a front line that lost Mohamed Salah at the conclusion of the season and will be missing Hugo Ekitike for the foreseeable future due to a damaged Achilles tendon.
Liverpool Looking To Add More Signings
Liverpool had considered adding more attacking players due to the severity of Ekitike’s injury, and Munoz’s anticipated signing is not expected to have an impact on the Reds’ ongoing pursuit of RB Leipzig winger, Yan Diomande.
Leipzig are hesitant to part ways with the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international, who has been touted as a possible €100 million (£86.5 million) star. Paris Saint-Germain, the European champions, are also interested in Diomande.
