Arsenal are credited with an interest in Julian Alvarez, alongside Atletico Madrid’s La Liga rivals, Barcelona and Real Madrid, during this summer transfer window
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo remains adamant that Julian Alvarez will not leave for anything less than his £433million (€500million) release clause.
Arsenal are among the clubs credited with an interest in the Argentina international. Alvarez came on as a substitute for Lautaro Martinez in their opening World Cup match against Algeria, which they won 3-0 thanks to a Lionel Messi hat-trick.
Barcelona and Real Madrid are the other two teams linked with Alvarez this summer. The latter publicly made a £130million offer for him earlier this month, which Atletico rejected, they say, without even considering or evaluating the bid.

Cerezo has now said in Spain: “Yes, the offer from Florentino’s Real Madrid arrived, and you know what was said to Real Madrid. The president prefaced that by saying: “You want to repeat this all the time, and you get tired,” after being asked about the bid.
“Julian is an Atletico de Madrid player, and whoever wants Julian should come, see the contract, and if they are interested, they will take him; and if not, then he will not take it.”
The president conceded: “It’s the summer thing. You know how the situation is, he is an Atletico de Madrid player.

Mundo Deportivo report that many in Madrid circles are calling their move for Alvarez a ‘phantom offer’. They claim that their real target was at the time, and remains, Michael Olise.
Other reports in Spain claim that Arsenal have agreed to swap Viktor Gyokeres for Alvarez. It is said that the Gunners would be pay Atletico around £43million.
El Chiringuito also claim that the club’s chief executive, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, called Barcelona president Joan Laporta on Sunday to say that the Argentine is not for sale. It is reputedly not the first time he has done so, either.
Arsenal are pushing to add goals and quality to their forward line this summer. football.london understands they are interested in Bradley Barcola.
The Gunners also have interest in Ayyoub Bouaddi, Christos Tzolis, Eli Junior Kroupi and Morgan Rogers. They have previously been keen on Alvarez, much like they were with Anthony Gordon before his move to Barcelona last month.
