The NSW coach was given a lighthearted clip over the ear by his assistant Matt King earlier today after saying Ethan Strange – who could easily have won man of the match honours in game one – could play in the back row off the bench.
Given Strange is a five-eighth, the call raised plenty of eyebrows, King’s included.
‘He wasn’t meant to say anything,’ the former Melbourne Storm star said at a press conference.
King went on to say that the Blues have looked at a wide range of scenarios for using their bench, and Strange could be one of the keys to quick scoring if the side needs to play catch-up.
