Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has defended his decision to retain several experienced players in the national team amid ongoing questions about the role of veteran stars in the squad.

Madugu insisted that age should not be viewed in the same way as it is in men’s football, arguing that experienced players continue to play a vital role in the development of younger teammates.
The coach explained that senior members of the squad provide leadership and guidance both on and off the pitch.
“These players still have a lot to offer the younger ones,” Madugu said.
According to the Super Falcons boss, experienced players help younger members of the squad adapt to the demands of international football and understand what is required at the highest level.
“They teach them things that go beyond football,” he added.
Madugu also pointed out that it is common practice for leading women’s national teams around the world to rely on a blend of youth and experience.
The coach maintained that women’s football often allows players to remain effective at the highest level for longer periods than is typically seen in the men’s game.
“In women’s football, players often improve with age and experience,” he stated.
The Super Falcons continue preparations for upcoming international competitions as the technical crew works to maintain a balance between emerging talents and established stars.
Madugu believes that balance remains essential to the team’s long-term success and competitiveness on the international stage.
