Edo Queens have reclaimed their place at the summit of Nigerian women’s football after emerging champions of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership following a hard-fought campaign in the Super Six playoffs held in Port Harcourt.

Sports247 reports that the Benin-based club secured their second league title after playing out a goalless draw against Bayelsa Queens on the final matchday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium on Sunday.
The result was enough for Edo Queens to finish top of the standings and successfully fend off the challenge of their closest rivals.
Heading into the decisive encounter, Bayelsa Queens needed a victory to snatch the title, while Edo Queens required only a draw to secure the championship.
Both sides produced a tense and tactical contest, creating scoring opportunities but failing to find a breakthrough as the match ended 0-0.
The triumph marks Edo Queens’ second NWFL Premiership title, having previously lifted the trophy in 2024.
Their latest success further cements their reputation as one of the leading forces in Nigerian women’s football and places them alongside Bayelsa Queens as the only clubs to have won the league twice within the last six seasons.
The achievement also represents another milestone for head coach Moses Aduku, who became the first manager in league history to win three NWFL Premiership titles in six seasons.
Aduku guided Bayelsa Queens to the championship in 2022 before leading Edo Queens to title-winning campaigns in 2024 and 2026.
In other final-day fixtures, Nasarawa Amazons and Rivers Angels settled for a goalless draw, while FC Robo Queens came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Abia Angels.
Edo Queens finished the Super Six playoffs with 10 points, two ahead of runners-up Bayelsa Queens. Nasarawa Amazons completed the top three, while Abia Angels impressed on their debut appearance in the championship playoffs with six points. FC Robo Queens and Rivers Angels finished with four points each.
As champions, Edo Queens will now represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers scheduled to take place in Burkina Faso from August 13 to September 5.
The team will be aiming to secure qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League and continue their impressive rise on the continental stage.
